Top Wedding trends for 2016
As a wedding photographer I see lots of great ideas for a wedding day. I am a firm believer in the details of a wedding. It helps my wedding photography so much to have elements to help tell the story.
While I am not an expert I did want to look around and come up with a list of what I see as some great things for 2016 weddings. I found some great resources online like theknot.com and bridalguide.com and used this to come up with just a few ideas for couples to think about.
Remember look for ideas you can call your own. The “trend” must fit in your style and theme of the wedding day. Making it a personal touch only helps make memories.
1. Special memories from special locations.
Couples that choose not to do a destination wedding are bringing elements from visited locations that hold a special memory. Bottles of wine from a trip to wine country, food from a far off place. All part of the story.
2. Simplistic flower arrangements
Keep it simple right? A simple flower arrangement can be just the perfect touch. A single grouping of one flower type could and just a little touch of class.
3. Shimmer and sparkle invitations.
There are some great paper choices for your invites. Popular this year is using a paper with a little sparkle. Don’t grab the glitter and glue use a soft metallic paper in a warm color tone.
4. Creative cocktails
The year of the specialty drink. Create a signature cocktail for the bride and the groom. Something to help tell the story.
5. Unplugged weddings
The selfies are great just put it away at the ceremony. Brides and grooms are starting to take notice of that signature walking down the aisle photo with Auntie leaning out shooting video with the ipad.
6. Satellite Bars
The line at the bar too long? Just place a smaller bar on the other side maybe just serving those signature cocktails.
7. Sweet endings to the story
Cakes will never go out but couples are leaning towards other desserts. Donut bars are making a strong showing.
8. 3D printed cake toppers
Who would’ve thought? Want to be unique? Have a one of a kind 3D printed cake topper made just for you.
9. Bolder more vibrant colors
Pinks and purples may have overpowered the past but brides are looking to bolder brighter colors for there party this year.
10. Intimate dinners focusing on quality over quantity.
Intimate dinners parties are very popular so why not for a wedding. Couples are looking at using this theme for smaller more stylized weddings.
