As a wedding photographer located in Columbus Ohio I am privileged to see many couples weddings over the years. Wedding Photography has always been about the details. So I figured maybe I could pass on a few wedding details that could help when planning your wedding.
Self Serve Wedding bar.
Ok, no this is not another name for open bar. This is actually an idea my wife and I used for our own wedding. Wedding favors take allot of time to put together. For our wedding favors we ordered silver bags off the Internet from a wedding shop. Then placed ties with our initials around the top and placed these at each seat. Then to the side of the receptions area we had a table setup with old fashioned candy jars that each person could fill there own bag with a treat they like. Just a different take on the whole process.
Photo-booth
A photographer pushing a photo-booth just does not seem right. I admit I think this one is pretty unique. Remember the booths at the mall you and all your friends crammed in and paid a buck to get 4 or 5 photos from instantly. Now you can rent the booth and have at your wedding. This one is always fun towards the end of the night. And your guests get a little keepsake to take home.
Best Wedding Wish Tree
This is from a recent wedding in Florida. It was a take from a family Christmas tradition. The wedding had a winter theme to the whole wedding reception. To the entrance of the reception was the usual gift and seating chart table. Next to it was two small three foot trees with no leaves but wrapped in cotton. Think charlie brown Christmas tree just white from the cotton. Then on the table were cards with an ornament hook on each one. Then as guests arrived they would put there best wishes on the card and decorate the trees. The skinny trees we filled with sparkling card ornaments by the end of the night.
Warm Wedding Wishes
Getting your guests best wishes is always a great tradition. There are so many ways to have your guests express themselves. Along the same lines as as the photo matte is a wedding quilt. As guests arrive have a quilt with patches every guest can sign. Look for a laundry pen that will not come off in the wash. As for the quilt, ask around if you have a family member who makes quilts. That will make someone feel like they are part of the wedding too.
Whatever is planned for your wedding just try to think outside the box. Take a normal tradition and put your own twist on it. Do more to get your guests involved. Make it a memorable night for all.
